The Florida Interagency Coordinating Council for Infants and Toddlers (FICCIT) is authorized and required
by Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The role of FICCIT is to assist
public and private agencies in implementing a statewide system of coordinated, comprehensive, multidisciplinary, interagency programs
providing appropriate early intervention services to infants and toddlers with disabilities and risk conditions and their families.
The FICCIT plays a very important role in the decision making process for the children and their families in the state of Florida.
The following are some of the responsibilities of the FICCIT:
- Assist and advise the lead agency in coordinating activities for planning.
- Provide advice and assistance to the lead agency in the development of policy and definitions for the minimum components of IDEA, Part C.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of an annual report on the status of Early Intervention Programs for infants and toddlers with disabilities and risk conditions and their families.
- Recommend procedures for distribution of funds and priorities for program support under Part C of the IDEA.
- Assist the lead agency in developing and reporting information and evaluations of programs for infants and toddlers with disabilities and risk conditions and their families.
- Assist the lead agency in seeking information from service providers, service coordinators, parents and others about any federal, state, or local policies that impede timely service.
- Conduct meetings on a quarterly basis at various locations throughout the state. The meetings are open to the general public.

Parents of infants and toddlers with disabilities or children with disabilities aged 12 or younger, with knowledge of, or experience with, programs for infants and toddlers with disabilities are needed to serve on FICCIT. Please visit the Membership page for more information on how to apply.
